Introduction to Verity
What Verity does, where to start reading for your role, and how these docs mark features that are live, in preview or coming soon.
On this page
Verity is where your organisation keeps the evidence that its security promises are true. This page explains the job it does, suggests where to start reading for your role, and shows how these docs mark what you can use today.
What Verity does#
One place holds the controls you claim to operate, the proof that each one works, the policies people have signed, the risks you have accepted, the third parties you rely on, and the assets and weaknesses underneath all of it.
The job it does for you: when an auditor asks "show me", the answer is a link, not a week of chasing.
These docs are for the people who use Verity day to day: the compliance lead preparing for an audit, the control owner who has been asked for evidence, the security officer triaging a finding, the manager who signs off a policy. They are written as walkthroughs. Every section answers "how do I actually do this", step by step, with a picture of the screen you will be looking at.
Start with your role#
New to Verity? Read Your first half hour, then Finding your way around and Key concepts. After that, follow the path that matches your job.
How these docs mark what is available#
Verity is built in phases, and these docs say plainly what works today. Pages and features carry one of three markers.
| Marker | What it means |
|---|---|
| Live | Works in the product today, on your workspace's own data. Most pages are live. |
| Preview | You can see it in the product, but it shows illustrative figures rather than your data. |
| Coming soon | Planned, not built yet. These pages describe what the feature will do and point you to what you can use today. |
In the product itself, a Soon badge marks a screen that is a placeholder for work that is not built yet. The Coming soon group in the sidebar of these docs describes what is planned.
Two notes on this release#
The Dashboard screen is a preview. It shows the shape of the executive view, with illustrative figures rather than your workspace's own. Every live number lives on the module you are looking at:
- Get Started tracks your real setup progress.
- Frameworks has a compliance dashboard. See Frameworks and readiness.
- Risks, Vendors, Assets, Vulnerabilities and Tasks each have an Overview tab that reads from your data.
Screens marked Soon are not built yet. They appear so you can see where the product is going. Nothing behind a Soon badge holds real data.
About the screenshots#
Screenshots in these docs come from a demonstration workspace, so the names, numbers and people in them are invented. Your own workspace shows your data in the same places.
How to read a walkthrough#
Steps are numbered, and each one names the thing you click by the words printed on it. Where a choice has a consequence that is hard to undo, there is a warning like this one:
